The state of Haryana has just 2 per cent of India’s population and has one of the worst skewed sex ratios. But on the flip side, almost a quarter of the sports people at the 2020 Olympics were from Haryana, the sports power of India. From Yogeshwar Dutt, Bajrang Punia, Kumari Rani Rampal and Sumit Antil – winners of medals in the Olympics, Asian and Commonwealth Games — to global icons like Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra or international cricket star Kapil Dev, all are from Haryana. Mamta Kharab, former captain of the Indian women’s hockey team, is from Haryana too.  

MCS Gurugram, the baby in the Mount Carmel family, yearns to produce many more Phogat Sisters who have brought laurels to India both in Commonwealth Games and other global competitions.
